One of the larger Lepanthes species, endemic to the Choc region of Pichincha, Ecuador, where it grows in very wet forest around 1300-1400 m. Plants carry striking reddish foliage and many showy orange-red flowers on tall inflorescences. It prefers cool conditions, extremely high humidity, full shade and continuously moist yet airy substrate.
